Now don't get us wrong. We have no doubt Nia is a lover, not a fighter. But bilirubin is putting up a nasty fight and Nia has no choice but to reciprocate with a good ol' fashion throw down. The venue this time is a PEP Ultra BiliLight Model 2000 take-home phototherapy bed. It's sort of a cross between the UFC octagon and your neighborhood fake 'n bake. Brooke and I are lucky enough to have scored front row tickets for this all night event. In fact, this one could stretch out for several days.
This morning's bilirubin test came back higher than all the rest (18.7 mg/dL). The number as it stands now is tolerable but if it's still trending upwards tomorrow, we might have a problem. Panic mode starts around 25. Let's hope we never get that high. The next test happens tomorrow afternoon. One more hole in Nia's little heels (aka pin-cushions) :-(
