Take It When You Can Get It

Nia and Mom Catching Some Shut Eye

At this point, the nights are a mixed bag. One night, Nia will zonk out except for her regular schedule feedings ever few hours. The next night, she'll howl well into the night before finally succumbing to peer pressure (everyone ELSE is dong it...and by it I mean sleep and by everyone I mean mom and dad). But what can you expect from a little person that can't even hold her head up on her own? She's growing fast and one of these days, she'll realize night time is sleep time (and not groan/feed/potty time).

I'll be kicking myself for saying this in a few weeks/months, but right now, even her tantrums are fun to watch AND listen to. She doesn't have the size to produce any mind-numbing screeches at this point. In fact, when that little chin starts vibrating, the resulting vibrato in her screams sounds more like an opera singer in training than a 3 week infant. Add in the scrunched up red face and flailing tiny appendages and you have a truly mesmerizing affair. If it weren't for the fact that a dad can't stand to see her daughter unhappy, I'd let her cry it out more often (you know, "tough love" and all that). But she's too young and we're too loving. Any time that tomato face makes an appearane, mom and/or dad swoop in to save the day (or moment). Because we're parents and that's what we're supppsed to do (I think...).

  1. She doesn't know it's nighttime yet! But she will soon - hang in there. - Thorntons

  2. They say you can't spoil a baby until the 3 / 4 month mark. I say swoop in and coddle and cuddle until you are delirious with baby love.
